This month, we’re celebrating ALTOUR Mexico’s 30-year journey, we are so proud of achieving this major milestone. It’s a story of adapting to change, investing in innovation and building trust with clients, and people across the industry. This anniversary was more than a celebration, it was a reaffirmation of what business travel means today and where it’s headed.
From its founding in 1996 under the name Corporate Travel Services (CTS) to its evolution as part of a global corporate travel network, ALTOUR Mexico has consistently combined local market knowledge with strategic global support. Over three decades, it’s grown into a corporate travel management company that balances global scale with personal service.
An electrifying Celebration with Purpose
The anniversary event brought together clients and global team members in a lively gathering that blended celebration, music and reflection. More than 270 souls took part, celebrating the company’s evolution and future direction.
CEO José Luis Castro used the occasion to highlight how technology and a strong culture have shaped ALTOUR Mexico’s success. He said the company chose to embrace digital transformation early, even before it was a widespread industry requirement, giving ALTOUR a competitive edge in innovation and service delivery.
Gloria Guevara, current CEO & President of the WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council) took the stage to dedicate a few words about the importance of ALTOUR’s position and trajectory within the Mexican marketplace, highlighting the outstanding leadership of José Luis Castro.
Castro also spoke about how leadership has evolved along with the company. Decision-making shifted from a centralized model to one rooted in collaboration and team input, improving agility and strategic alignment across the organization.
Balancing Heritage With Global Integration
The transition from CTS to ALTOUR wasn’t just a rebrand. It marked a structural evolution, integrating the Mexican team into a global framework while preserving the local culture that made the company successful in the first place. Castro emphasized that global integration works best when cultures are respected and combined, not imposed.
He also highlighted one of the most important lessons of the past 30 years: client trust. Strategic alliances and long-term client relationships aren’t just business wins, they’re the foundation for sustainable growth.
How the Industry Has Changed
The corporate travel landscape today looks nothing like it did three decades ago. Clients are more informed and expect fast, flexible solutions. The pandemic forever changed expectations around flexibility and response times, making traveler experience a central part of business travel strategy. Control of costs and travel satisfaction now go hand in hand.
Castro also stressed the importance of sustainability. What once was an optional discussion for corporate travel is now a requirement, with many organizations seeking travel partners who can support sustainability goals without adding cost.
Looking Ahead to the Future
For ALTOUR, the next decade is about hyper personalization, tailoring services to each client while maintaining operational excellence. Castro summed up the company’s philosophy this way: “It’s all about the journey, not just the outcome.”
That perspective captures their approach to travel management: make every itinerary safer, smarter and more aligned with business goals. Beyond managing reservations, ALTOUR aims to anticipate needs and solve challenges before they arise.
What This Means for You
The future of travel management won’t just be about tech or scale alone. It will come down to:
- Proactive solutions that anticipate needs
- Tech-enabled services that streamline tricky logistics
- Teams you can trust to solve problems without noise
- Relationships that outlast market shifts
ALTOUR Mexico’s anniversary wasn’t just a look back, it is a clear statement about where ALTOUR is taking travel management globally in the years ahead, with our clients in mind.
